Murray Family Farms
Delicious dried fruit/regular fruit stand located off of the 5 freeway in Bakersfield, CA.
I bought raw honey and comb in a jar, ranch-flavored roasted toasted corn snacks, and some HOT beef jerky. Also they have a petting zoo. I think it has a peacock. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it for the cool stuff that they have.
If you are driving between LA and SF, I highly recommend this place for great travel snacks.

One of several wonderful things about my two recent trips to baketown- an awesome photo op on Merle Haggard Drive. I had my eyes closed when the motorcycle rolled by, so I took the liberty of making myself a little photo composite of that shot and another where I was actually looking into the camera.

Black and WTF:
1928
When oil was discovered along the Kern River bank in 1899 near Bakersfield, California, thousands of fortune seekers, oil companies, and railroads rushed to the state, setting up oil fields up and down the coast. This particular picture is from Huntington Beach (Surf City).
